Making an exceptional transition from theater to film to TV, Tony award winning actor Dan Fogler recently starred in several big hits and will be seen in many highly anticipated films and most recently a network sitcom. In 2007 he starred opposite Christopher Walken, as the unforgettable “Randy Daytona” in Ben Garant’s BALLS OF FURY for Focus Features, and in Lions Gate’s GOOD LUCK CHUCK opposite Dane Cook and Jessica Alba. Dan was part of the voice cast for the 2009 Academy Awards and Golden Globes nominated animated feature KUNG FU PANDA, with Jack Black and Jackie Chan, as well as HORTON HEARS A WHO, along with Steve Carell and Jim Carey. Dan made his network television debut in MAN UP! on ABC in fall 2011.
Taking a more dramatic turn, Dan starred in Universal Picture's LOVE HAPPENS opposite Aaron Eckhart and Jennifer Aniston, as "Lane Martin", the self-proclaimed visionary behind "Burke Preston" (Eckhart). He's also been picked to star in HBO's bio pic BROTHER SAM where Dan will play the late brilliant comedian Sam Kinison.
In 2009, Dan moved behind the camera to write and direct the horror/comedy HYSTERICAL PSYCHO which premiered at the 2009 TRIBECA FILM FESTIVAL. The film follows a group of friends headed to a cabin for the weekend and encounter evil at it’s most visceral and hilarious. The movie spawned Dan’s foray into the world of graphic novels. In 2010 Archaia Comics published the horror anthology MOON LAKE. This collection of stories chronicles the past, present, and future of the most haunted town on Earth, Moon Lake. Watch for the sequel, MOON LAKE 2, in 2012.
Now a classic cult hit, Dan starred in the Weinstein Company’s FANBOYS about the world of Star Wars fans with Jay Baruchel and Kristen Bell. Dan can also be seen in THE WEDDING BROTHERS, Universal’s TAKE ME HOME TONIGHT with Topher Grace and Anna Faris, the Disney production MARS NEEDS MOMS, Ang Lee's TAKING WOODSTOCK, and the upcoming 3D action-horror HELLBENDERS.
In 2012‘s DON PEYOTE, Dan works both sides of the camera as cowriter/director and star. The film is about a man’s decent into perceived madness as he goes on a journey to unravel the fabric of status-quo society. His character, Warren Allman, dives deep down the rabbit hole of conspiracy theories, secret societies, and counter culture to try and figure out what’s really happening in our world and who is pulling the strings. The film also stars Anne Hathaway, Jay Baruchel, Dean Winters, Daniel Pinchbeck and Yang Miller.
Dan ventured into digital production in 2010 with Atom.com’s M’LARKY! The web series is a tripped out, balls out homage to the cop shows of the 70’s and 80’s that Dan created, wrote, directed, and starred in as the ever corrupt and fun loving Lt. Black.
Dan Fogler won a Tony Award in 2005 for his performance in the Broadway production of William Finn and Rachel Sheinkin's musical THE 25TH ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE, directed by James Lapine.
Dan was also honored with the Outer Critics Circle, the Lortel, the Drama Desk for Best Ensemble, and the Theatre World Awards for his portrayal as William Barfee. He also won New York Magazine’s Culture Award for Best Breakthrough Performance that year. He reprised the role in the spring of 2007 for the West Coast run of the musical.
He returned to the New York stage in Dan O’Brien’s THE VOYAGE OF THE CARCASS, directed by Randy Baruh. Dan has previously appeared in off-Broadway and regional productions, including LIITLE EXODUS, BOBBY GOULD IN HELL, JOE FEARLESS, CREPUSCULE, BRIDGES AND HARMONIES, WHITE DEVIL, and DILETTANTES & DEBUTANTES. Dan's directorial debut for the play he also wrote, ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM (inspired by Ionesco's RHINOCEROS), was performed at the 2007 Fringe Festival in NYC. The play was produced by Stage 13, the film and theater production company of which he is a founding member. Along with his friend and fellow Stage 13 member, Law Tarello, Dan is also part of “2nd Rate" a rock-comedy band that has performed at Joe's Pub in New York City.
Favorite Quote:"Here's to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round heads in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They're not fond of rules and they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify them, or vilify them. But the only thing you can't do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones who do." - Jack Kerouac
